A moment of tranquilty for the mind and heart.

Etchu-Yatsuo, a small town in the mountains.
Once a transportation hub, Yatsuo prospered during the Edo and Meiji periods through traditional paper-making, silkworm culture and the silkworm trade.
The town is famous for the Owara Kaze-no-Bon festival, held to pray for protection from typhoons; the festival is also known for attracting as many as 200,000 visitors when it is held on the first three days of September.

Still, Yatsuo is ordinarily a very quiet town, a place to find more idyllic pleasures--flowers planted along cobblestone streets; the ripple of running water; the seasonal aromas carried down from the mountains.

We created our inn here, taking advantage of the machiya (townhouse) architecture into which is woven the history and culture of Yatsuo.

Nagi… The word refers to calm winds or waves.
